For those of you who occasionally hop over to my official "Delmar Weather Station" CW4197, you may have been confused with the readings shown after our recent IDA storm surge. The precipitation chart, shown on the bottom left of the page shows two lines, one blue and one red.
The red line indicates actual precip. amount as it's falling. The Blue line reflects the cumulative amount of precip. The top of the page only shows the amount of rainfall in the past 24 hours, according to the chart. So as the time marker moves farther to the Left, after the precip stops, that figure will decrease as it counts down those 24 hours.
All in all, (cumulatively) throughout the storm known as Ida, Delmar only received just under 2.5 inches of rain. But, as we witnessed, when that amount of rain falls, in a period of about a day and a half, it can get pretty nasty. Some nearby areas reported more and some less. It was real spotty.
Another thing to remember, regarding the graph is the time signatures. They only reflect Greenwich Mean Time. So, where it says 7 PM. That is actually 12 Midnight here in the Eastern Time Zone.
Enjoy the sun, while we can!
