This year, my birthday coincides with a TV special. I'm considering it as a gift.. Around 20 years ago, I was an extra in a Barry Levinson movie (shot in Baltimore) called Avalon. It became the big Academy Award winner that year. Not because of me, well, maybe not.
If you've been following this blog, you'll know that I was a big Baltimore Colts fan. Too many great memories there to list right now. Anyway, here's the news.. Barry Levinson is at it again. As you may know, he likes to focus his movie skills on his hometown of Baltimore. So, combine that with the Colts..
Barry Levinson has made a documentary on the Baltimore Colts Marching Band. The film, entitled: "The Band That Wouldn't Die" is going to air on ESPN, Tuesday night, October 13th at 8 PM. If you ever followed the Colts, you know that a big part of the home crowd enthusiasm was centered around the band. I remember the chills in my back when they fired up the Colts Fight Song during the team introductions at the start of every home game. Then they'd appear again at halftime. I'm looking for those same chills on the 13th.
